Irene Demetri’s dessins are in high demand. The style of the Greek Motiflow designer is trendy, warm and widely applicable. As far as we’re concerned it’s one of the trends of 2020: Slow living. Time to have a closer look at her dessins.
Something had to give. ‘I’ve always felt drawn to patterns. They have a calming quality. As a kid I would draw motifs in my books, without knowing the term ‘dessin’. When I felt it was time to move in a different direction, my obvious first choice was creating dessins and offer them online to different markets.’ She made her choice four years ago and she hasn’t looked back since.
The beginnings...
Irene studied graphic design in Athens. Followed by a Bachelor and Master in visual communication in London. During her studies, typography and consumer psychology were her focal points. Quickly after, she started working as an UI-designer. She did that for 10 years.
Digital
Nowadays, Irene considers herself ‘a graphic and digital designer’. For her, this means making things as easy as possible for others through her creations. She offers dessins and digital files so others may use them for their own projects and goals. Motiflow is an excellent example of this. You can find her under the name ‘Youandigraphics’.
‘This flower pattern is a part of my Elegant Flower Patterns collection. It represents my aesthetic design completely. I can totally see how the series will fit in to many interior styles.’
Minimalistics drawing art
Line drawings with a delicate and elegant appearance. It’s Irene’s favorite drawing techniques. This minimalist style is visible throughout her dessins. Her dessins are picked frequently for beautiful products, like these bed linens.

Most all of her work, Irene has done digitally. Yet, she had the desire to create something physical and tangible. That’s how her mugs came to fruition. ‘I think the digital world is fantastic. Still, it makes me very happy to hold my own physical piece of art in my hands.’ She wanted to create something that would be used daily by her and many others. ‘The idea for a mug came quickly. I used my own style on a series of mugs of ceramique and glass. I’m very proud of the result. It reflects my style of design and that makes me so happy!’
